After the high-level qualifying session allowing the Team to start the race in the front row, the Swiss team finished the ELMS 4 Hours of Portimão in ninth position of the LMP3 category.

It was under the Portuguese sun that the qualifying session took place on Saturday afternoon. David Droux, driving the NORMA M30 N. 9, performed the second best lap time of the LMP3 category.

The 22 year old driver was at the wheel of the car when the start of the 4 Hours of Portimão was given. The Swiss driver caught in the traffic was relegated to the sixth position. He was forced to slow down after only a few minutes of driving because of an accident involving many cars of all categories, however he managed to get out without damage. The race was stopped by a Red Flag and left 45 minutes later under Safety Car.

After the first hour on track, the green flag was finally back and David Droux gave way to Esteban Garcia at the wheel of the prototype N. 9. He came out of the pit lane P10. The driver maintained his pace and position until passing the stint to his teammate. He managed to gain a position and reached the ninth position 45 minutes from the checkered flag. He crossed the finish line at the same position.

The race punctuated by a red flag, yellow flags and Safety Cars was not easy for Realteam Racing who did not take advantage of the different race facts.
At the end of the season, the Team finished in seventh position of the LMP3 category.

Next week, the Team will be racing in the Ultimate Cup Series at the 4 Hours of Castellet. Realteam Racing intends to finish well the season!

“It was a very complicated race. I started and I narrowly escaped from the crashes, I was very lucky. There was a very long red flag, we decided as soon as it stopped to change drivers. It was a good choice but the following Safety Car were not in our favor and it penalized us for the final result. We still had a good pace and a good car. The work done has started paying for the last two races. We were performing this weekend, both in qualifying session and in the race, despite the lack of luck. A big thank you to Realteam Racing and GRAFF for this season!” – David Droux

“Throughout the season, we have improved, whether our performance, and this has been seen since Spa. For this meeting, the car was very well adjusted. We have the chance to get along very well with David and that is a real strength. It is necessary to transform this energy into good results, it is unfortunately what we missed this season.” – Esteban Garcia
