After leading the race for more than two hours, Realteam Racing ended the ELMS 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps in eighth position of the LMP3 category.

This weekend, the penultimate round of the European Le Mans Series took place in Belgium, on the famous Spa-Francorchamps circuit.

After two free practice sessions, David Droux achieved the pole position in his category during qualifying session, with the circuit record: 2:12.239.

David Droux was at the wheel of the NORMA M30 car N. 9 when the start of the race was given.
The young driver managed to keep the lead of the LMP3 class despite the attacks of Lucas Légeret at the wheel of the M Racing car N. 19.
During his first pit stop, the car came out P4 from the pit lane. It took only one lap to the Swiss driver to be back P1. After a 90-minute race, Realteam Racing was hit by Nielsen Racing’s N. 7 car. Shortly after, the Team took once again the lead of the race.

Shortly after the mid-race, the car was forced to enter the box to undergo repairs to the damaged rear part in the previous contact. She came out P10 with Esteban Garcia on board.
One hour from the checkered flag, the Team was back in fifth position in its category. A new contact with the Nielsen Racing prototype relegated the car P8.
Shortly before the end of the race, Esteban Garcia showed a good resistance in the heart of traffic. The Belgian chapter ends with an eighth position in the LMP3 category at the end of the four hours of racing.

Next week, the Team will be racing in the Ultimate Cup Series at the 4 Hours of Valencia. Then on October 27th in Portimão for the final round of the European Le Mans Series!

“I am very happy to have achieved pole position particularly at Spa with the new track record in LMP3. It’s also the first pole for this new Swiss team. This shows all the work and development that we have done this season. In the race, we kept the lead for more than two hours, we would have definitely finished on the podium if I had not been hit by another competitor. Esteban had a good pace on the track and the Team did a great job. Now focus on Portimão!” – David Droux

“A strong weekend at Spa, we first managed to prepare the car well in set up with our engineers, then David was able to express himself fully by doing the pole position in qualifying session. The start of the race was perfect until a competitor hit the back of the car. The repair costs us precious time that we have not been able to catch up. But we are ready for a revenge in Portimão.” – Esteban Garcia
